Concept: This mixed-use academic project was designed to meet the needs of the university while respecting the site‘s low-scale, residential context. The design thoughtfully considers the surrounding built environment, ensuring an appropriate scale and seamless integration with the neighborhood. At its core, the project tells the story of water in the desert, drawing inspiration from the meandering paths and sculpted landscapes of the Arizona environment to create an immersive experience. The ground level features a coffee shop and retail spaces, designed with natural desert materials, ambient shade, and traditional approaches while incorporating sleek modern shapes. This combination draws people into the space, fostering interaction and engagement within the community.
